New to the Scooter Family

The one I borrowed didn't fit under the seat so I carried it with me everywhere until mine arrived. I would just flip it upside down and hook my arm through the face opening.

It's a lot less hassle and worry keeping it locked under the seat. The open face ones offer no protection for your chin, though.

Hope they have one in stock for you, aokark!

Yes, that lack of chin protection is what worries me. 

That's why I'm thinking of going with the full face.

But the open face is nice because it is cooler in the hot summers and I can cuss out other drivers so much more effectively.

How's the protection on the modular ones when they are open? Could there be a risk of it opening up if in an accident?

That is a concern - but I do know of someone who was wearing one when a car ran into her.  She landed on her face and it held.

I'm sure they wouldn't be especially safe for those going at much higher speeds.

Never tried using one though, so I can't say for sure.

I have to say that you can get really injured even at slow speeds in a car. I've learned this from experience. On a scoot probably more so.

Absolutely true - I think for that reason I probably wouldn't go with the modular helmet.

I'm not saying the modular ones are not good, though. I've actually never seen one and I'm sure they are better than no helmet!

A modular would only work for me if it could offer the same level of protection as the full face.  I'm just not sure if that's the case

The modular part would only be an advantage to me if it allowed the helmet to fit under the seat.

Ya know...there is a website...somewhere (I hate that I lost my bookmarks!) that shows the measurements across various popular brands of helmets according to their size. I found it when looking for helmets online. If I could remember where it was it would be nice to post it so folks could just measure their space under the seat to see which sized of which brands fit.

The met-in area is awkward because you have that little shelf in the front of the box which would be a problem for the chin part on a full face.

I turn mine around backwards, though, oswaldters. So like when I put the key in and pop the seat the shield side is facing the me at the back of the scoot. It just fits better. Then I raise the shield and slide my hand in to pull it up out. I don't know if that would work for a modular or not. That motocross style one did not fit any direction...I tried.

OH Man, did I have the bookmarks! You Have to bookmark when you have no memory. I've only got a dozen or so now and the 'puter looks naked.

Well now I'm going to try and face the helmet towards the back and see how that works. 

Never thought to do that before since the open face fits fine facing forward. 

Ultimately, I'll just borrow the neighbor's full face and see if it will fit when the time comes to get the new helmet.

What kind of problems are you having? Or do you mean it just feels slow because it's a 4 stroke? Would you recommend 2 stroke for a 50cc engine?

I have Agility 125 and People 250S and if I could choose and was restricted to 50 cc, for sure I would go with 2 stroke and I would probably check how many kW the engine develops. In that case, I would probably forget Kymco and go for Italian scoots as they develop 5.5 or more hp, which is twice the power of 4 stroke 50 cc.

For me, but that is just me, 50 cc 4 stroke is not acceptable, I have 240 lbs and have 13 km from home to work that include 17% downhill/uphill parts.

However, I must add that I do not know if Kymco has 5 or 6 hp engine in some 50 cc 2 stroke model.

I must add though that here in Miami you don't really see any uphills... The 'uphills' we have, I can roll over with my bike lol

The store I was looking at has a new Kymco Agility 50 4t from 2006 for $1450

Are there any important differences between 2006 and newer models?
