GAS MILEAGE
« on: June 10, 2022, 11:09:58 PM »
I just checked gas mileage at 1800 miles ( bought in September last year) and I was a bit disappointed at 43MPG. My riding while very conservative it’s 100% city riding. Anyone else show similar numbers? Thank you.

Remind me what machine you ride?
nvrmnd, I searched and found it. Old man brain freeze here.

I just filled the tank on my AK 550 last week and have been getting around 54 mpg +/-1 for combined city (35-40 mph) and country highways (45-55 mph). That's my average for the last several tanks of gas. I now have a bit more than 4200 miles on mine.

I think you'll find the best mpg will be at uninterrupted speeds of 40-50 mph on this bike.

I find that a lot of city riding with a lot of stop and go intersections and speeds staying under 35 mph with a lot of 25 mph will reduce the mpg. Bigger bore engines like to run. My wife's Metropolitan does best at those city speeds for mpg but not any of the bikes I've owned... all bigger than 550 cc... unless I don't do much stop and go and maintain a constant 35 mph 90% of the time and ride VERY conservatively.
