Relay Ride UK
« on: June 22, 2022, 12:39:01 PM »
Well my Stig-esque early morning ride has now taken place with 159 miles covered from 00:30 hrs to 06:20 hrs this morning taking me into Wales (twice) before returning home.  It was all in aid of Mental Health Research here in the UK and was a great excuse for a delightful ride to watch sunrise over the Welsh hills.  Following the customary axiom of "no photos, it never happened", listed here in order are my stops at the Ponderosa near Llangollen, Nantwich and then Wrexham (Wrecsam in Welsh) before turning for home.  Look out for Robbie the tartan-clad Teddy Bear who was the "baton" we carried in the Relay.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

And here are Chris & Tom whom I rode with for the first leg of the Relay.  (Tom is the founder and driving force behind the Relay Riders UK charity run.)

Neil - so jealous of your beautiful ride! To see the sunrise in Wales? Awesome. One of my favorite youtubers, Million Dollar Bogan (crazy Australian real estate guy who rides Harleys all over the world in places no one should ride a Harley)...he's currently in the UK. He's ridden all over England and around Scotland. He's headed for Ireland, next. The scenery of the country side and the villages is stunning. I would love to ride over there someday.

Kind of surprised you took the scoot and not the Street Triple?  I guess you were going for comfort! Great pics, thanks for sharing.

It was a toss up, but in the end, when I'm out in the dark on my own the wife feels more reassured that I'm on a "sensible" scooter!  TBH there's little to choose between them in the comfort stakes, but in the end I could carry more with ease on the Kymco.

I thought as much.

Nevertheless....pretty nice photos!
Couple of tough looking hombres!

"El Segundo Avocado baby!"* came to mind....
My bud in SoCal taught me this valedictory....before he and our other bud had to return to finish their studies at Chino's California Institution for Men in 1967. (sometimes I didn't always make the best choices that summer - but then I was 18....these two parolees were 30 and 28...nice guys, if a bit wayward)

Not yet washed mine either!  Can't see me going the Hell's Angels "Originals" route though, maybe a wash on their first anniversary?
