Oil filter upgrade/options
« on: July 02, 2022, 03:38:10 PM »
HI, New here.
I did try to search...but was hitting dead ends.

I/d just like to know if anyone has any luck with name brand oil filters fitting.
I'd like to go with a WIX or K&N. Or something Amazon can get here fast.

I just grabbed a 2016 45i with only 230 miles, and it it in NEED of an oil change!

Thanks
Brian

Have used the K&N filters and they are great but pricey.  I change oil often so top quity filters dont mean a lot to me.  The standard HyFlo filters have a very good reputation!!  Be carefull with cross referencing as I have been burnt by doing so...they may say it fits...but how well does it fit???

Hey thanks...
I just ordered the OEM...Easy Peasy.

What about oil.

The owners manual says 10-40 and the service manual experts on-line says 5-30.

thoughts?

I have some synthetic 10-30.

I always use full synthetic oil in my expensive toys, my 450i gets Rotella 5w-40 all year long, if an extreme cold climate then even 0w-30. Full synthetic oils dont get thick in the cold and dont thin out in heat like dino oils do.  Back in 2016 I actually called Kymco and ask about the Rotella oil and recieved their blessing.  Very pipular oil among toy owners!!

My Dad has an Amzoil account.
Maybe I go that route even.
Want to get this done ASAP so though.

Filter will be here today 🤷🏻???

Cant go wrong with Amsoil....however, there are many good synthetic oils in todays market without paying the Amsoil price..
