Electricial spares and general wiring advice.
« on: July 07, 2022, 08:27:37 AM »
Hi Again
So from my previous post i have a pet pig project that will need a new engine which i am hoping to try and get today.
I was told all the electrics where good but they are not so i need to get into these as well.
So only 1 indicator seems to work and no lights although the pass button seems ok.
I have had a good browse through about 60 pages and found the wiring diagrams but have a few question regarding the electrics.

The battery is dead so i can use a car battery for testing but am unsure if the lights are only supposed to only work when the engine is running ?

I was going to get a spare regulator/rectifier & new flasher relay as i do not trust any part on this bike, Is there anything else i should grab before i try and fit the new engine ?

Can i trace out the wires/switch gear ok with the 12v battery or will i need it running before i can fully test the lights ?

Sorry if i am being a pain but all these new bike i have never worked on, lots of old BSA/Kart/Pit bike engines ect.. but nothing modern.

Also could someone post me a picture of the carp/vacuum tube layouts so i can use those as a reference thanks.

That depends on how it is wired. I personnally don't know how your model is wired. All I know is that some of the scoots have lights powered by the stator and some by the battery. A wiring diagram for your year and model will show this. Failing having an exact diagram this can be determined with an ohm meter.

Crossbolt is correct with the lights...my People S200 does not turn the lights on until the scooter is running but my Honda Helix does turn the lights on with the key. Sorry, not much help, here.

I'd suggest getting the cyclepedia shop manual for your scoot. It should give you the wiring diagrams, vacuum hose routing, etc. Or subscribe to the online version and as Stig says, you can actually speak with people/ techs to help diagnose your problems.
