Does your scooter stink?!
« on: July 31, 2022, 02:48:30 PM »

Not the first time I've thought of this...but the exhaust of my 10yr old Kymco LIKE200I stinks!
The fumes are so bad that I always close the garage door before starting the LIKE out in the driveway.
Two points:
1) scoot runs great
2) mpg hasn't changed in years
3) it's been smelly for years

Simply do not recall if this odor changed after I tried fixing an engine stumble one year into ownership by swapping in a Yamaha motorcycle fuel pump.
If the oxygen sensor/cat converter has failed....it failed years ago!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Yeah, we have a couple of dogs that can clear a room, too! Your stinky scoot is a result of today's gasoline additives and that cat converter. The best smellin' exhaust was AVGAS (one of four grades) in round aircraft engines and in some landing craft (tracked vehichles that floated and swam to the beach) .

Ain't been the same since. I have developed a fondness for Jet A in the morning....

If memory serves Karl, pretty sure they used JP-4 in our Hueys.
Sometimes do a 'hot' refuel after going 'bingo' during an extraction attempt....refueling without shutting down....sometimes from bladders on the nearest firebase.
The smell of a running Huey, you don't forget 🙃

Jet A and JP-5 are the same and very much like diesel 2 and kerosene. Any other JP-X is still jet/turbine fuel  but with different secret "chem trail" stuff in it. I could tell you what it is but then I would hafta.....you know....

that smell is nothing compared to me after eating tacobell or white castle ;D But all jokes aside the reason why your scooter smells is due to the catalatic converter.

Actually - the smell is like the cat converter and/or 02 sensor quit years ago.
