2022 Maggie Valley Beat the Heat Scooter Rally
« on: August 10, 2022, 08:50:59 PM »
This was the fourth year for this rally and I think it was the best yet.  We had people come to North Carolina from Canada, Michigan, Texas, New Mexico as well as many closer states.  For those of us from the South it was great to get out of the heat with temperatures mostly in the 60s and 70s.  It was great getting together with old friends from the previous rallies as well as making new friends.

Here's some pics from the event.

Take a look at the daily weather forecast for Maggie Valley and you will see why we go there in August.  A couple of days the high was low 70s.  It's even cooler when we rode up to higher elevations.  It is consistently 10 to 15 degrees cooler there than here in Alabama.  Many days it's cooler than Ohio.

We had 3 helix's at the rally.

This rally was from Sunday through Friday with the first and last days being travel days.  That left 4 days to ride the area.

Fantastic pictures Klav and takes me right back to when I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway back in the 90’s on a buddy’s CBR600. Terrific scenery and a memorable ride.
Regards & ride safe,

first thing I noticed was a red Honda Helix, then another! Looks like a beautiful place and great weather. Hope everyone was safe. I always get a little nervous when I see so many bikes / scoots riding in 1 place as all it takes is one person to be not paying attention. I would guess this group was full of seasoned riders if they came from all over the country to participate.

We had 3 helix's.

We did had a couple of crashes but no serious injuries or damage to the scooters.  In both cases they got back on their scooters and continued the ride.  One guy scraped up his elbows but he wasn't wearing a jacket.  Most were wearing armored riding jackets and protective gear.

I get cooled off just looking at the pictures.  How many rode there? (vs trailing)
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

One guy rode His Xmax from Ft Worth, around 1000 miles.  He left at 4PM and rode through the night arriving around 1PM.  Another guy ride from Albuquerque.  The couples from Canada and Michigan trailered.  I think overall it was around half and half.
