Another thing I hate worse than weak coffee....
« on: August 15, 2022, 03:36:57 PM »

In my normal rural route I found that they were doing this to the northbound lane...and it was really exciting in my s.-bound lane, in the dark,  as it spread fully to my lane in the corners!

So, after a nice coffee at Dino's I made another, unplanned, speed run up unmolested Rt 68 N., to get home. Only had 2 F-150's take exception to me being on their road.

Posted at 50 and 55 - I held a steady 55 observed until Rt. 68 became "70MPH". Then I took the off ramp!
They play at 75 > 85 on that section.

I know my plastic paneled scooter can handle loose gravel - but I don't like the added wear to my tires. (yeah, I know a lot of you guys happily ride in gravel - that's your $$ )

glad you escaped it..we have a number of those types of roads around here. They also induce a type of panic in me if I'm riding and come upon a recent 'oil topped with pea gravel' road...I will quickly slow and turn around to get the H out of there!

Another good one is where they are resurfacing a road and will eat the top 2" of the road surface off, leaving a heavily grooved (in direction of travel) surface that will cause you to pucker up..

Not just the States Hawk we get the same challenge here in the UK. Bad enough in a 4WD, absolute nightmare on a bike or scooter 🛵

chip seal and ground pavement surface used to freak me out, I actually like chip seal, a chance to slip & slide controllably cause of the uniform chip size, compared to a loose gravel road.  The what I call corrugated roads, I just deal with

snow & ice can be relaxing with the right tires

what scares me is a wet steel deck bridge with knobby tires, without a steering damper
