Autumn Colours? Not just yet…
« on: September 30, 2022, 07:31:16 AM »
I was out on the scoot last night at dusk. You’ll see from the photos we have another week or two here in my part of the UK before we see the lovely reds and golds of the Autumn 🍂 leaves 🍁
Regards & ride safe,

That particular one is just a mile or so up the road from me Hawk and I often walk the dogs up there.  You're more likely to meet horse riders or a tractor coming the other way than a car!

Much as I enjoyed my various motorcycling holidays over in the States, I do love the twisty nature of our minor roads over here which follow every twist and contour of the topography.  Take yourself off somewhere hilly (less than a 100 miles in any direction for me) and you're in a biker's paradise.

Great photos Neil1
Thanks for posting.
Would I need to be watching for crossing animals if I were out riding before sunrise on these roads?
I see a lot of squirrels, a few raccoons and the odd deer.
I remember to ride in the "tire" tracks area of the road in the dark - because I recall a time that a female member who rode a LIKE200i in Florida ran over a dead Armadillo which was in the 'center' of the road, not in the tire tracks....the center of the lane being where most road kill ends up after a lot of passing traffic. She reported that it was most unsettling!
As for dead deer - I find that they are always off the shoulder of the road.....after which I make a mental note, "deer in this area" - for future rides.

As for "twisty bits"....I confess they are not my favs. I'm daydreaming too much, or something. Checking the scenery - or the sky! Not at all interested in exploring the edges of my traction in the dark, on wet leaves or a cup of loose gravel, ice patches, etc. Like the early F1 drivers - I'd prefer to reconn the road on foot before playing on it with a motor vehicle.
Some refer to me as "Mother Stig".

I've no problem with that.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Yes Stig we do get squirrels 🐿 too, but my main concern at night is encountering a badger 🦡! Fully grown ones can be over 1m long and weigh in at 30-40 kgs…. Not something you’d want to hit at 30 mph.
