Watched a couple of youtubes and visited my late FIL's garage to begin getting his car back on the road after sitting for a couple of years. (he gave up his keys after being hospitalized with a stroke and covid - not sure which came first. Wheelchair bound, then bed ridden where he passed several weeks later when I couldn't revive him with CPR while we waited for the squad)
Why did the car sit? My 94 yr old MIL did not want it touched during that period.
Now she wants to ride in it when I drive her to her Dr's appointments....so she passed my wife the title.
Bit of a bother with cold clips and very stiff cables - but needed only 10mm tools and popping out some scooter-like plastic rivets (!).
Off to the auto parts store for the biggest DieHard tomorrow. (
if MIL will open the garage again?!?)
The battery showed 2.4V after it's hibernation.
No interest in trying to revive it - someone in the family will be driving it through another cold Ohio winter soon.
Much harder was replacing the batteries in the key fobs!
Seemed melted shut!
Will be interesting to see what needs doing after (if) it is started. A 2015 - looks pristine, as my FIL always kept it. No idea the mileage...until i get a battery in it.
Will report back - advice welcomed!
I'm not a lot of things - including an electrical wizard.
