I really like my Kemimoto muffs. Kemimoto calls them Universal Touch-Friendly Winter Gloves rather than handlebar muffs, so if you're looking for them that's the terminology to use. Good price right now too. I looked at Hippo Hands recently but cannot justify the price when these are available for only $40 and do at least as well as the HH. And they hold their shape really well so putting my hands in is easy. And yes, you do need to know your switch controls. I try to make a practice regularly of operating any of my handlebar switches without looking just to improve making it automatic without taking my eyes off the road even in warm weather without the muffs.

A few days ago I did ride with the insulated and wind/rain liners both worn... but not attached to the jacket... yet. Temp was upper 40s F. And after this week I will definitely be putting the bar muffs on for the season. 67 F here now and expecting a high around the low 70s F today. Same for tomorrow morning and afternoon. But then only up to 34 F expected Friday and it stays down like that for the next week after with highs between 34 F to 29 F and lows around 20 F. So the cold season looks like it will finally come here.

do the handlebar muffs in any way impede your ability to quickly remove your hands from the bars? I would guess no..but at first look it seems like they could?

My hands are typically the part that gets the coldest in cold weather riding..

My hands are typically the part that gets the coldest in cold weather riding..

I did try a pair of muffs that were much more floppy and didn't hold their shape. Those did impeded getting my hands out quickly and there was no way to get my hands back in without another hand holding the cuff since they were so floppy.

These Kemimoto muffs are stiff and hold their shape so well I can easily and quickly pull my hands out and put my hands back in on the fly so they DO NOT impede that at all.
Here are a few more photos to illustrate.

And they have a rubber front to block not only the cold wind but also any bugs/rocks/hail or whatever might be thrown up in front of you. It also maintains the shape of the muffs in front of the brake levers to enable those to be reached and operated easily. Oh, and the wind from riding does not push them back on the levers. Well, maybe just a little if my hand is not in them while going full speed but never enough to put on the brakes or even the brake lights.

There is plenty of room inside to get to the controls. I can even operate the unique control buttons on top and on the front of the right control cluster for the Noodoe.

Tried muffs several years ago. Forget where i tossed them.
My hands are out and in way to often to fool with muffs.
Now I use battery in the cuff armored leather gauntlets.
In the OP I was sitting on a bench in a village with my coffee....finally got up and got some leather gloves out of my top case.
didn't think it was supposed to be that cold.
That was a nice Miata over there......

after a nice, brisk 18 mile ride today in 31F weather (0C)...and with my hands really the only cold part...I found this thread and ordered a pair of the Kemi Moto handlebar cuffs. They are $39.99 USD but at checkout I clicked the 'Microsoft Edge auto coupon finder thing' and it found a coupon worth almost $7 USD. Heck, I spend more on beer some weeks than these cuffs cost! Might as well give them a shot.

I rode my Helix today as that scoot gives me the best wind protection of my 2 wheelers. They should arrive later this week so hoping to give them a try in the next week or so and will report back.

For what little cold riding I do, I have mitts designed for snow mobile riders and skiers. Warmer for me than individual finger winter gloves.
