Kymco 450i Side-By-Side Plow
« on: November 11, 2022, 09:35:50 PM »
Hello,

New owner of a 2015 Kymco 450i Side-by-side, looking into getting a plow and winch system for it. I contacted my local dealer and they said to not do it.... but.... i figured you folks would know better.

Any recommendations ?

thank, mp

They probably said no because they didnt have anything !! I also own a 2015 model and I have a plow and a cab enclosure long with a winch.  When I bought mine in late 2015, nobody was making bolt-on plow kits so I made my own. I did not want a front mount due to excess stress on the front of the frame (my opinion) so I made a mid frame mount which ties all three crossmembers together to distribute any stress. Then I added a Pile Driver quick attach plow and push tube.  Probably overkill for my machine but definetly heavy duty.  My machine already had a winch plate mounted, so added a KFI 2500lb winch and ready to plow!  I also added a Pacific Eagle cab enclosure to stay warm while plowing.  Been an excellent tool for plowing my 300 plus ft drive.  In fact I look forward to plowing....if we could only get snow without the cold!!!   Lol....

don't worry about plowing, I also have a 2015 UXV450i,  This will be my 4th year plowing, I have a KFI winch, and a 66" Moose plow, the push tubes attach at the midpoint.  First 2 years I had a 60" blade, don't make that mistake, at full angle, it is not as wide as the UTV. I beat it up anyway, being used to a full size plow on a pickup truck, instead of a trip edge, the whole blade trips on the Moose plow, and running into something solid while tripped will bend the blade.

I also had to have my frame welded and gusseted, but I think due to logging operations, not plowing, I use mine as a tractor, and drag full length trees, for firewood, example: northern red oak 80ft tall, dbh 18" with limbs cut off is about the upper limit before I start cutting em shorter, I also tow my 990lb backhoe at speeds up to 45mph

The only issue I have had with plowing, is the low angle of the winch mount to the pivot point that is the midpoint where the push tubes are attached, broke and buried the winch rope several times ( I have synthetic rope instead of steel cable) before I attacted a flat strap at the end, that would not bury itself in the winch rope, haven't had a problem since
