X-Town 300i Drive Belt Replacement - Advice please
« on: November 19, 2022, 09:51:47 AM »
OK it’s coming around to 10K miles and CVT belt change time. I have the attached in my shopping basket. Anything else you think I may need?
Regards & ride safe,

Not replacing rollers while you're in there?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Neil, interesting items you're replacing! I attached a parts schematic with your parts highlighted so others will know exactly what you're looking at.  I agree with Stig, new rollers (or sliders?) are always good. At 10K how do your clutch and clutch bell look?

With ordering just the moveable drive face, does that require you disassemble and rebuild your whole driven pulley?

I'd probably take apart my cvt and look at the components to see if anything else needs replacing? Moveable drive face, boss drive, etc.

You know we'll want to see pictures of the job...assuming you're doing it yourself

I have inspected my cvt drive on my Downtown a couple times, as it is a 2016 and didn't have many miles on it when I bought it. Still only 5000 miles. The drive surfaces look like new. I'm thinking belt, rollers and slides only when I get some more miles, probably before 10,000 due to age.

Belt, roller and sliders - yes.

Extremely unlikely to need a new drive face, ramp plate, boss or clutch bell at that low mileage.

Bike in use every day----at 15,000 miles on my Xtown300i---at 15,000 miles I just changed belt and rode on----took me about 6 month to get the 15,000 miles.

Thank you all for the responses and advice contained therein, much appreciated!  I'll go with the belt, rollers and sliders I reckon.  Now just need to decide if I try it myself or leave it to my mechanic?...

Ashamed to say it's taken me 3 years to get to 10K John!  The will is there, but not the opportunity sadly.

Did you get that Honda 100 Cub yet?
