« on: November 28, 2010, 12:55:09 PM »
OK alot of us probably have some thoughts about this topic

I have owned a 50 cc SYM before now I have quannon

I have not own quannon for long so my experience are scooter orientated

I think scooter especially the 50 cc two stroke are excellent in city environment

alot of up and go and no fuss

what is your preference and opinions ?

Scooter in the lower displacement segment. We have 123, 124, 244 and 498cc Scooters.
In the higher displacement segment the motorcycles advantage in maintenance and economy would imho outbalance the expensively added accessories (storage, weather protection).
But I don't see a rational reason for a higher displacement motorcycle. Scooters of the 250-500cc (single-with pillion) class are already nice touring machines.

Lower price to buy and insure -  especially in the area of full replacement. Can hold more cargo, and better stability at lower speeds (city driving). Not interested in seeing the world at 80 + MPH. I'm for a scooter all the way.

For some of us ... "bigger"... people (I'm 270 lbs), riding 2 up can be a problem on even the bigger (500-650cc) scoots, which can be done with 1000+ motorcycles.

scooter...

I like the storage...

smaller size...

still get big speed out of my 150...  Even with me and the miss on it we hit 50+mph...

And I'm a 250lbr myself...
Im usually on a bicycle, so for me, this thing is hauling ass!

I have M.S. My balance is great when I ride but terrible when I walk. I would get a motorcycle but I do not shift well so a scooter is for me. Twist and go, not a problem.
Just remember, if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.

I agree with TP. I enjoy the feeling of being in control that comes with shifting gears, but having some days that are better than others balance wise scoots are just much simpler to get on and go.

They're both great!  Dirt bikes too.  But I can't shift with my artificial left foot so scooter is perfect for me.  I feel like I'm on a sport bike when I ride the Xciting 500 anyway.  ;D

The thing about a cvt scooter is that they are so fast off the line. I used to ride a six speed Yamaha XT225 dual sport while my wife rode her scooter (first a 49cc Honda Metro, now a SYM HD200).While I was wasting so much time shifting, she would often just motor away from me.

I like both mcs and scooters, and have room in my life for both.

I would prefer several of each to match the riding mood I was in at the time.

Put me in the scooter category.

Love the 50cc - no registration, no plate, no photo radar tickets, no parking tickets - park anywhere I want.

Can't beat that!

My Ford car is gear manual. I don't like manual change. But here automatic gearing it is very expensive. There are a few models. When I worked at the United States all the cars I rented were automatic. I loved that. Big and automatic cars. Woohoo!!

This is one more reason why I like my automatic scooter...
If I have to stop, I will die.
