I had a '89 Jetta when i was 17 for a few months - 1.3 normally aspirated with 4 speed transition. It was probably still the coolest car I've ever owned.
It was a great car! Bought for the wife. Steel manual sunroof. 4 Dr's, 1.8 EFI. My 1st VW with autotrans...and loved it.
I made certain it was German made, not from Pennsylvania plant. Our Rabbit from PA. was poorly assembled. Well over 200K on iJetta when sold. Became my wrk commuter. . Speedo quit after 20+yrs. I drove by the tach.
Engine or Trans never touched. Just fluid and filters. BOSCH plugs. And mufflers . Salt ate it up suspension parts.
VWs became expensive, Mexican....so went back to quality
with Japanese.
