How much did you ride in 2022?
« on: January 02, 2023, 03:40:50 AM »
My mileage in 2022 was down from previous years.  Both my wife and Mom had medical issues that resulted in my cancelling trips and rides and reducing my mileage from what I expected.  As I do every year I read the odometers on all my bikes and calculated the mileage.  Here are my totals for 2022:

Kawasaki Versys 650: 3389
Kymco Like 150i: 2860
Honda ADV150 : 2739
Kawasaki KLX250: 2570
Yamaha Majesty: 1581

Total: 13,139

The Like was my top mileage bike the previous 3 years but reliability issues cut down on the miles and resulted in my buying the ADV 150. I have no doubt If I had the ADV for the whole year instead of half the year it would have been number one. If the Like had been reliable I think I would have ridden over 5,000 miles on it and I wouldn't have bought the ADV. My total scooter mileage was more than my motorcycle mileage 7180 to 5959.

I'm hoping to get back to ride 15,000+ miles in 2023 as I did the previous  few years.

The ST-Owners forum has a record for miles on 2 or 3 wheels during the year. Not the odometer reading but how many miles ridden during the year. I record my miles there.
I am also the moderator on the CTX1300 forum and have a spreadsheet shared in a thread there for members to record the same... how many miles they rode during the year.
In both documents the miles are total for all bikes owned since many members of both forums own several bikes just like klaviator does.

The document I manage for the CTX1300 forum is simply a Google Sheets document that I link to on that forum and any member can use to post their miles throughout the year. I can do that with any forum that doesn't already have such a document.

In 2022 I rode a total of 7369 miles which is close to my average. It didn't seem to change much from before I retired to after I retired. When I was working a job I used my bike to commute most days. After I retired I rode more miles just for fun. I usually ride 7000-8000 miles each year. One year I rode over 11,000 miles, but that was with the commute and also an extra camping/riding event that was a long distance away. Since I retired I do attend the extra camping/riding event and even another one so I guess those make up for some of those commuting miles that I no longer ride. I only own one bike at a time so all my miles are put on that one bike. I currently have a total of 8516 miles on my 2022 Kymco AK 550 since I bought it in Nov 2021.

Good post Klav!
Could you share your reliability issues with your LIKE150I under the LIKE200I heading?
Owners, potential owners, might be curious to see if they were model-wide....or one-offs.
Thank you!

Looking at my maintenance logs for my LIBERTY150I* and the LIKE200I......it seems I rode about 3,800 miles this year.
Which may be slightly below a normal year, due to extra family responsibilities.
I get less aggravated now, when circumstances keep me off the scooters. "there are plenty of riding days in the future " I tell myself.  (one hopes!)
Stig

*when I went out this morning to cycle the 'mode' button on the
LIBERTY to total miles , I was sad to  👀 that it has 9700 miles on it. I still want to think of it as being "new". Even though I bought it in 2017..🙃
Serv. sched. says I'll be putting on another belt and OEM rollers in @2000 miles.....@$60 for the OEM parts readily avail. from two parts houses, TX & CA.

My yearly miles peaked several years ago.  I think I rode 4 to 5 thousand miles. Almost all of it short rides, but I seem to get in several rides each week when the good weather appears.

I’ll need to check Klav, but I think about 3,500 miles this last year?  Highlight was a trip up through the Peak District to East Yorkshire on the scooter.  New Year resolution, get more miles in!

(Edit: Written before the X-Town let me down 5 miles from home  :()

hardly any, 500 or so miles on my AK550, and maybe 1k on my K-Pipe, zero miles on my V-strom

I used to put between 30,000 and 40,000 a year, when I had my SV650, and first got my V-strom, I'm hoping, the AK will get ridden as much, and that I get my Strom going again for longer trips

I also had a pitiful year of about 2500 miles, mostly between July and the end of the year.

Will ride more in 2023 as I continue to refuse to buy another car after Mrs. Viper learned to drive.
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)

That's the spirit! Were it not for the fact that we now only have one car between us, I doubt I'd have managed even the lamentable 3,500 that I rode.  It's the way to go.

I tried that route.
Sold my rusting apart (underneath!) '89 Jetta after 24 salty Ohio winters - and bought my Kymco LIKE200i for my work commutes.
Wife has the nice Scion.
FIL - tried to sell me his Silverado; for $10K, then $5K.....then he gave it to me!
In some States you can turn down a gift horse - but in Ohio, one cannot turn down a gift P-Up!....not w/o causing a familial rift!

Stig, that was one generous gift from your FIL.  It would've been churlish not to take it.

Yeah - he was a great guy. A big blonde muscular Swede...who withered away very quickly after a stroke, then COVID.
It was awkward declining his reasonable offers for his truck, but as I was approaching retirement I was trying to downsize.
Now I use his truck to do his wife's yard work - local tree service co. accepts yard waste free so I make a couple runs after trimming his 36 large shrubs. I finally reached an agreement with his widow - if she'll stop trying to pay me - I'll do the needed  things around her house and yard.

I had a '89 Jetta when i was 17 for a few months - 1.3 normally aspirated with 4 speed transition. It was probably still the coolest car I've ever owned.
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)
