Front Differential Plug - 2015 UXV 450i
« on: February 03, 2023, 06:15:31 AM »
Hi all,
I went to change my front differential oil after driving in some deep mud.  I removed the drain plug, let the fluid drain, then went to put the plug back in.  I had the plug almost all of the way in and the head snapped right off.  No, I was not forcing it and it was going in smoothly.  I am able to remove the threaded shaft but now my problem is getting a new plug.  I've called around to Kymco dealers and the first I spoke to quoted me $32 for this tiny little plug.  Turns out they can't even get it because Kymco doesn't have it in stock.  I have tried calling Kymco and both the parts extension and reception extension don't answer and their mailboxes are full.  Does anyone happen to know a part number for the front differential plug or know the exact dimensions?  I want to try to see if an auto parts store has a generic one that would fit.  Or does anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks

A shortened bolt with the same threads will do nicely....

First thing is to find out what the thread is, metric or sae?
Then find something to match the thread....even if the head doesnt match, the thread must!!  You can always make the head whatever you want, slotted, square etc.  If you have the threaded part find a hardware or local machine shop, they should have thread gages to figure out what thread it is.

try an Arctic Cat dealer, the Prowler 500 is just a rebadged UXV450i with a few minor differences

Very delayed update: I was finally able to get around to researching and I found the Arctic Cat Prowler drain plug part # 3306-027.  It ended up being the same part as my '15 Kymco 450i.  Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and to Randy for the Arctic Cat suggestion.  We were able to take it out on the trails again today after 2+ months out of action.

from what I have observed, the only differences, are a different dash layout, colors & stickers, lack of emergency/parking brake, and Arctic Cat bolt pattern on the wheels
