well shoot - city grip II is a no-go

tried to make a dealer appointment to have a City Grip II installed on my LIKE200i - I am required to buy the tire thru the dealer.
No problem - however the parts dept said this tire, the rear, is back-ordered. Might be avail end of April or maybe May.

I'm looking at amazon - I can have the tire in hand in @ 3-4 days.

Called other motorcycle dealers - they will not touch a 12" rim.

dammmmit - I think I'm going to be doing it myself!
Worst case scenario - I get the rear wheel off and new tire in hand and go to the big Honda 'Powerhouse' dealer (25 miles) for the tire mounting. $65.00

I wanted a CG2 for my ADV150 but had the same problem.  I ended up getting a Shinko for $59 + around $35 to get it mounted.  I have no idea how long it will last but I rarely have a rear tire last for even 2 years.  The OEM tire was only good for around 7 months.

Well, the CG II is on the way - early next week.
also checked my spares drawer - I have 2 new exhaust gaskets....and some fresh hardware. So should be good for the wheel removal.

Actually, this is a frequent occurrence.  Due to supply chain issues a lot of tires have been hard to find.  I have heard from many people that the CG2 was on back order.  A lot of Vespa riders had trouble finding 12" CG2's.  I had to wait a couple of months for a Dunlop 605 for my KLX250.  Luckily I ordered it months before I would need it because I knew there were all kinds of tire shortages.  Last time I needed tires for my Majesty I couldn't get the tires I wanted because they were out of stock.

My last 13" CG2 fitted to the X-Town was £95 ($117.50) all in and balanced.

I think I paid about $120 for both front & rr City Grips from Revzilla back in 2013.
@ $130 to have them put on the scooter.

I ordered tire changing bars and did it myself. I was amazed how easy it was, will never use a dealer for this again. you, with all your knowledge will laugh when you do this. i look forward to the tutorials

I just did my own tires for the second time. Only thing that I did different is I bought rim shields, they saved the custom paint job on my rims when I marred the crap out of them when I was a newbie, the cheap rubber tire rim protectors that came with the spoons disintegrated. Another trick I learned really helped ease the installment process. I ended up warming the tire before mounting it on the rim. I preheated the oven for 350 and then turned it off, waited about ten minutes for the element to turn off and then threw the tire in for fifteen minutes. You could also leave it in the sun but right now we are in the rainy season so it is cloudy for the majority of the day.

I also used a new product that I never knew existed. Balancing beads. I put 2 ounces of beads in each tire through the valve stem with a small hose and a tiny amount of compressed air

A hair dryer would work as well.  But if you're a bachelor there likely isn't one in the house.
