[Solved] Can't reach top speed
« on: April 11, 2023, 02:26:17 PM »
Good day.
After engine reassemble in service, scooter maximal speed 100-110 km/h.
For faster  speed - tachometer reached red line.
So, we replace  cylinder gasket.
New Variator pads.
The belt is new too...
Variator "should" be in good condition, like and engine.
I checked air filter, not so bad condition.
Have you any ideas?
Also, "check engine" lamp  bulb is on, after krank(motor shaft) replace. But no visible problems.
Thanks!

@darkshvein,
out of the belly I would suspect TOO light rollers/ squares or TOO short belt.
CEL on this scoots is a case for a tool in your trusted workshop.
More info needed to conclude.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

@darkshvein,
More info needed to conclude.
Well, I recorded video and downloaded X500iFehlercode.pdf,
but not sure about codes recognition.
If you have some free time, please, take a look, I will be grateful.
Thanks.

5 long, 8 short. That mean 58 or 59 ? But I cannot find this code.
54 code - faulty AICV. What is that..

Looking at your video, I'm reading the flashes as 4 long and 9 short, reasoning that there is no 58 code and there is a 49 code which is faulty ISC. Loose or poor contacts on ISC (intake air pypass valve) or open or short circuit in ISC wire, or faulty ISC.  This info comes from the Cyclopedia Service Manual for the Downtown 200i/300i.  the section on failure code lists.  It may apply also to your 500.

https://kymco.at/pub/media/Download/Kymco/FIXciting500i.pdf   Also found this in the 500 manual which if you look through the Xciting 500 post section you can find the Kymco manual download.

Hope it's something simple with the ISC connector .

For all to check up on this:
-seat and underseat tray out
-unplug all connectors one by one
-check at which one (unplugged)the same failurecode appears
-take oxy sensor out, failure code?
Do one step after one, write down everything!

For all to check up on this:
Ok, I went to the master with a diagnostic tool.
The master said that it would be necessary to replace three sensors:
1. Faulty O2 (oxygen) sensor heater.
2. Faulty ISC.
3. Speed sensor.

Ok, let's say I will order those new sensors.
But I don't understand how they affect the low top speed and wild tach/tachometer.

.

Simply said: the system in your scoot is set up  in a way to protect itself from faulty parts, means if a certain sensor gets down, emissions are going up and i.g. clog your catalizer, which leads to even more expensive repairs (workshop mode).

IMHO it is very rare that all three sensors give in at once. On the other side it's hard to prove this diagnostical too and its master wrong.

If it solves your prob for a reasonable amount, ok let it be.

Thanks again)
Well, I replace O2 sensor.
But ISC still old.
How I can force diagnostic procedure again? (In Service point, they turn off warning CELP notifications)
I want to be sure, that O2 error disappear.
I tried:
1. Turn the key to the ON position and wait for ten seconds.
2. Fully open the throttle and wait for ten seconds.
3. Release the throttle.
4. The indicator will blink twice (0.5 second) quickly.

But no luck.

Only diagnostic tool make do force all checks again?

Well, for this moment, I replace O2 sensor and ISC valve.
idle rotation now not crazy - it fixed.
By speed problem still exist. Tachometer on red line already at 100-110 km/h.
Any suggestions?
