AK550 Grooved Rotor

Hi gurus- this rear rotor has generated a scrape/groove on the inside closest to the wheel.

When I rotate the tire I can hear a very light scrape during a portion of the rotation.

Service shop is booked until the end of June.

Is this something of concern? Something that I can repair myself?

The bike has 3500 miles on it

3,500 miles?
Fingernail across the disc - do you feel any significant "grooves'?
No?
In your photo I see nothing unusual....looks like normal marks from normal pad/disc contact.

All rotors will develop some grooves over time. There is no repairing, only replacing, but that looks fine, I wouldn’t worry about it.

How are your brake pads?
Do you use the parking brake much or have you left it on after forgetting to take it off?

Here is the inside and outside of my AK 550 rotor after more than 9350 miles:

No significant groves felt when running my finger nail over the surface.
The brake pads on mine look like they are barely worn... still a thick amount of pad material on the backing.

I did get a set of rear pads and plan to get a set of front pads (both sides) just to have on hand but don't expect to need them for a few years based on current wear.

Sounds good, thank you. I didn't think there should be rough ridges in the disc and thought it was maybe caused by calipers needing adjusted or something, but since there's not too much of a noise that it makes with a rotation it must be just bad enough to dig into the disc.

I will check the break pads, thanks for the tip!!

I don't believe the parking break was ever left on, on accident. But that's a good thought. Thanks!

If it's still making noise, I would pull the pads out and check for any embedded rock or bit of metal.

Art beat me to it Brian.  All disc /pad combos collect some road dust & grit in there, I guess that's what causes the grooves.  Looking at the photo I'd also say nothing to concern yourself over.
