Like 150i, Top Box Delivered Yesterday
« on: June 17, 2023, 11:34:43 AM »
Well I received the GIVI Top Box yesterday. It is a used 45 Liter model ... large enough to hold a few groceries. I am still waiting for the GIVI Rear Rack to come from Spain.

In the meantime to get an idea of the size perspective I took a couple of pictures:

Well the folks at "motard INN" (Spain) indicate they have not received my rear rack from their supplier. GIVI Italy told me two weeks ago, that they do not have stock on this item. This is not the Philippines where one can walk into a scooter shop and order any part one needs for their Kymco 125/150/150i. Thus it looks like I may have to somehow have one fabricated myself. So I am considering some options ....

First Picture: 'Abby-Normal' location of Top Box.

Second Picture: 'Low and Outside'. This lowers the CG and moves it to the rear. May also reduce air drag a bit.

Third Picture: 'High and Inside'. This is a bit more complex. It involves getting a 'used' seat (via Flea-Bay) and doing away with the 'King-Queen' seating option and grab-bar to turn this into a single passenger machine. I do not plan on ever riding two-up anyway. The Givi Mounting plate would be attached directly to the rear of the seat pan.

Thoughts, comments, flames ....

Re Availability, not surprised as I couldn't source a Givi rack for my DTX360 anywhere!  Had to buy Shad rack & Box (readily available) at great expense!  But guess who makes Shad?  You got it, Givi! Go figure.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

Well I sent Shad USA a email inquiring if they had a Rear Rack for the 150i but I am really NOT expecting a response.

I really like having a back rest, so if there is an easy way to secure in a place where it can function as a back rest...
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

Well I canceled the order with "motardINN" (I now have few more descriptive names for them).

I actually heard back from ShadUSA. They have something that they think 'might' work.

So I think that I will take a look at option number two. I am going to pull the stock rack off today to make a hole template. I will draw something up and seek if I can find a local hydraulics shop to bend a piece of 3/4 inch Stainless Tubing to the shape I want.
