Arkie_Rider has done this exact mod with his air filter though I don't think he ever rejetted.
K&N RD-0610 is the filter I used. I recomemend getting about a 2 inch (50.8 mm) long 2.25 inch (57.15 mm) in diameter piece of exhaust pipe to connect the filter to the stock intake tube, it will provide a secure fit. I had to post the pictures to my facebook page I will provide the link for the pictures. I had to adjust my air/fuel mix slightly to get the correct plug color. There are some othe hose you will have to reroute. like the transmission vent hose and the crankcase vent hose. The transmission hose I went straight up with it and zip tied it to the frame. The crankcase vent I put a filter in that line as well to try and keep my scoot running as clean as possible. No fuel mileage yet though I will provide it for you later. Amason.com is where I purchased the K&N as for it was the cheapest site I found.

Look up this thread -- it's in the Xciting 500 section much further down.  Think it's called "K&N air filter"   These links here don't work but there's some others down the thread that do.

Google DNA Filters. They are out of the U.K. but click on importers & then click on the USA map to find dealers who sell them here. They have a K&N style filter 4 the X500. If you only use this filter I don't think u will need to jet at all? If you have an after market exhaust also, u may want to go up 1-2 sizes on the main jet only. I do not think u need to mess with anyother jets. With this filter u can keep your air box stock, and still get some good air flow out of it. I have a Leo Vinci on my 2007 X500, & it is just (I would say), a tiny bit lean? Get to radical and u may never get it right, & the X500 carb is not the easy-est carb to get to to do constant jetting on! :-*
