There should be a fuel filter you can clean or replace. On my carburated Xciting it's down behind the plastic skirt on the left side about where your left foot rests. If it runs ok once it's started, though, I wouldn't suspect that.
Yes, fuel additives do indeed help clean dirty injectors. That'd be the easiest thing of all to try. Might take several tankfulls untill you notice anything.
