Smoke from the Canadian fires is back in this area of Ohio.
AQI this morning is 174, here.

Last week the air was clear in Delaware.
Here, you can smell the smoke when you leave an airconditioned bldg (or house).
It resembles morning fog - but it isn't fog.
Yardwork still must be tended to - but leisure walks with the dog are on hold.
Might try an N95 in my helmet tomorrow.

Heard a weatherman say this will continue until winter.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Tuesday night just after sundown I took the dogs out before putting them to bed and I thought I walked into the middle of the wild fire. Smoke was thick and the street light a half block away was giving off a strange pattern through the ash cloud. It smelled like I was standing in the middle of the smoke from a camp fire... or a dozen camp fires all drifting my way. Or maybe like my back yard was ground zero for the latest commercial fireworks display during the middle of it. My back yard is only 110 ft from one side to the other and it was very foggy looking all the way across.

AQI here that night was well over 180. Most of yesterday was 179 (looked a lot like your pics). Today, now, it is 165. We had a little rain yesterday and raining now with a severe thunderstorm coming in the next hour so maybe that will knock it down some. Or maybe that's ash falling that I see  :o

You can see the AQI in your area if you go to www.airnow.gov

I think it's been seeding the clouds when it hits the Gulf of Maine, we've had nothing but thunder storms here in seacoast &  lakes region NH

AQI of 24 was much better this morning!
Pup is the only one who enjoys my early morning habits.
Out for a walk at the reservoir.....then watched the sun come up.

Weatherman said it will worsen again today.
Also heard on PBS radio that Wash D.C. is reporting the worst AQI - "purple!"
Makes me wonder why - if so many are suffering ill effects of this smoke - why aren't we sending 500 planes up there to water bomb the fires?! Haven't heard that we've mobilized or done anything significant to get up there and stop this.

I doubt that there are 500 planes to send

I suspect the folks in Canada no more happy about it than you. I can recall driving through forest fires up I-95 along the coast of Florida. Much of the time the flames were licking at the roadway.
The more I learn the more obvious the immensity of my ignorance becomes.

I don't remember and AQ issues here in FL since the early 80's and there were muck fires . Quite stinky!!!

The worst we occasionally have is dust from the Sahara, but it is at high altitudes, and is hardly noticeable, other than greatly lowering our chances of rain.
