Don't know about that scoot- but I know on my agility it's 17mm.

Not sure if they standardize these things are not, but for what it's worth...

I think mine is 17mm. I usually grab 14 to 17mm 'cause I never can remember and am too old, lazy and creaky to take more than one try to flop down, take out the plug and drain!

I'm not at all sure about this but it seems I have a vague memory or idea that oil drain plugs are standardized to SAE not metric.

Anybody know?  Maybe just scoots sold in America?

It is a 17 mm if I remember right.  My Yamaha was a 17, two of them in fact.  Metric oil plus are just fine in the US.

Finally got a 17mm socket wrench, but it's been a while since I've had a chance to post. We have 3 inches of snow outside. It's 31 degrees F. No heat or power in the garage so I'll have to wait until it warms up before I can change the oil.

Anyone else riding in this weather?

hope it doesn't piss people off opening an old thread, but in answer to this thread's question: the oil screen screw needs a 17mm socket. swapped the oil this AM on my new Yager and didn't have a 17mm socket, so i used an 11/16 SAE. it was a bit sloppy but did the job.

after finishing the change went and bought a 17mm for future use. it fit perfectly.

Thanks Ronnath. I did manage to pick up that very size wrench. Fits like a glove. All oil changes have been a breeze since then.

you're welcome, wolf.

next up is my quest to find a solution to my transmission oil change problem.

wanted to swap out the trans oil, but didn't have a funnel small enough to fit into the filler hole (which is a horizontal screw fitting into a vertical surface) and went looking for same - no joy.

got a brain storm and i think a hand-held oil pump gun is the solution. one of these gizmos:

Granted, what’s pictured is an “el cheapo” from Harbor Freight, but you get the idea.

When it comes to being a mechanic I'm like George W. Bush trying to give a speech. Things are gonna get ugly. Changing oil, replacing screws and doing T-CLOCs is the most I know at this point. I just had the transmission oil replaced at around 8,000 miles by my dealer/mechanic, but I'm still wiling to learn. Let us know if your idea works though.

Cool idea,

I just changed engine oil in my Yager and it IS 17mm. Socket works better than box end since in my tool set the socket is thinner wall than the box end. This is the drain plug on the SIDE not the strainer on the BOTTOM.
