I swear this thing is cursed....I got a fuel sending unit from Amazon, hooked up and found out the wires were wrong in the connector.  Sorted that out and got it working.  Scoot started, revved up, guage worked.  I shut it off and put the seat bucket back in.  Now it WON"T START.  Cranks but no fire.  Took the bucket out and still won't start.  I closed the shop and haven't looked at it for 2 days.  Gonna check for spark next but can't figure out what might have happened.  Fuses near battery look good.  Batter dies from cranking so much but it's been on the trickle charger.   I didn't do anything except install the new sending unit.  I even unplugged it and tried but no start.  Does this scoot have a coil like other gy6 scooters?  Looks like I would have to take the rear body work off to get to it.  I have a coll and plug wire set up from my Lance scooter.  Any inspirational thoughts??

Just a quick one - because I have to shop for dinner - "Kill Switch?" 'd be my first thought.

"Fuel sending unit" ??? do you mean a new fuel pump, in the tank, yes?
Yes it has a coil. It IS possible to replace the coil with the panel in place. I used a short screwdriver "bit" from a power tool.
I doubt it is a problem with the Kymco coil....since you've done nothing recently to make it fail.
Opening and closing the seat can trip the Kill switch....ask me how I know.

Dinner's ready...

found out why it wouldn't start.  The new ngk iridium plug I put in showed a very weak spark, almost invisible.  Tested the old ngk regular plug and it had fat bright spark.  Put it in and fired right up.

Both plugs are black and sooty, even after a few miles.  Signs it's running rich.  I don't know how to treat that condition on a efi system.  Isn't ecu supposed to compensate?  Any thoughts??

OK Stig, I'll ask.  How can opening the seat affect the kill switch??  I had a Lance PCH125 and did a bunch of work on it.  Couldn't get it to start.  Spent 2-3 hours going back over everything, no bueno.  I realized I had disconnected a wire that went from the seat to a connector.  Put it back together and started right up....I like working on these guys but they can be very frustrating at times.

On my LIKE the open seat can come in contact with and flip the Kill Switch.
But then again, the stock seat was removed years ago - maybe the stock seat can't hit the switch?
Speaking of the LIKE seat - being a fellow big-fellow, I'm surprised you can tolerate the stock seat ~! I could not go more than about 20mins on it! I bought a LIKE seat from a crashed 50 on ebay - and spent a few days making my own. Truly a thing of ugliness - but sooo comfortable - raising my seat height probably 4" so that at 6'3"+ - I can flatfoot at stops now.

I'm fat, not long. I rode an hour home when I bought it no problem.

How can I remedy my rich condition?

I don't know that anyone has tried changing anything with the LIKE's throttle body. Throttle body/idle speed etc. is set at the factory.
A couple of people have replaced one, due to throttle/position sensor issues,  But I doubt a new throttle body, or any other part -  will get you that 60>65mph on your LIKE200i.
Very few here have reported 65mph on their LIKE200i. One guy modded a LIKE 50cc to 65mph before it blew up, or crashed. Forget which.
Maybe a nice used PCX? Or a test ride on a used LIKE150i? See what your top speed is.

Good luck,

Stig

Seems like every time I touch this scooter something else goes wrong.  If I ever get it running right, I'm gonna sell it to someone and buy a carb model that I can at least tune.  If parts weren't so expensive you could swap EFI stuff around until you find the problem.  I did a complete carb, fuel, ignition, variator, belt and clutch on a friend's TaoTao 50cc scooter and it's been running like a champ for a year now.  Total cost....$175 off Amazon.

Oh well, ya'll are probably tired of my rants.  I really like the style and comfort of this Like 200i.  Just wish I had gotten one that ran as good as it looked.

No Steve, not tired of your rants🙂
10 yrs ago when my TPS started failing....I did much the same as you! Tried a bunch of stuff myself because the dealer couldn't replicate my scoots problem. Since it was under  warranty,  I  got Kymco USA  customer service involved, parked it at the dealer and said don't call me until it's fixed. Weeks later they put a new throttle body on it.....snd it's been ever since. Customer service rep discovered dealer didn't own the Kymco diagnostic tool.
This no help to you....but your rants aren't bothering anyone here. Hoping you get it sorted!
I, however am s BIG fan of EFI~!

been looking at the engine and noticed the fuel injector wiring has electrical tape and a zip tie right where the wiring goes into the injector.  It doesn't appear to be something the factory would do.  Is it possible the injector has been changed with only 616 miles on it when I bought it??
To check spray on the injector, do I just pull it out and crank the bike with injector pointed into a container?

Can an injector be cleaned by a shade tree mechanic like me?

Is there a substitute injector off ebay?  If not where is best place to source a Kymco injector?

I get discouraged since problems seem to be cropping up everywhere.  For example, yesterday after I swapped the weak sparking iridium plug for the original sooty plug, it started right up. Started later in the day and it ran poorly, missing, etc.  Same thing this morning when I started it.  After revving a few times and holding the throttle open for a few seconds, it settled down to a reasonable idle.  I went and bought a new ngk cr7hsa plug and installed it.  Started and idled pretty good.  That's where it sits right now.

So, after all the work and purchase of belt, sliders, iridium plug,  I'm actually back to where I started.  I reinstalled the old belt, and rollers.
I set the valves, properly I think since I've done the job many times.  I replaced the fuel pump hose and replaced the fuel gauge sending unit.  I pulled and replaced the variator several times.  I took the clutch apart and cleaned/regreased it.  When it's running, it does the original 51mph which I determined via gps is really 55mph.  At 250lbs, I guess I can live with that.  I'm still after it but don't want to put another $300 or so for injector and throttle body not knowing if that fixes it.  Wish I could just put a carb on it and be done with it all.

forgot to mention thanks to all who have posted.  I have read all 66 pages of forum posts for the Like 200i.  I have read all the tech posts on issues I think might provide remedy for my problems.  I have a cyclepedia owners manual.  I have experience in maintaining scooters and motorcycles.  Unfortunately troubleshooting fuel injected vehicles is out of my wheelhouse.

I love your perseverance...these things can be frustrating and challenging to solve. The good part is once you do solve it the feeling of accomplishment is fantastic. Keep plugging away, you've got this!

I do not think that you need a new injector or a throttle body on your scooter that has now been determined to go 55mph GPS.

I'm no wizzard, and you have more scooter exp. than I do - but  - but I think your new belt was the wrong size, the sliders may have been the wrong weight or flipped when they were installed (happens easily) , and your Iridium was a knock-off or the cap was not firmly clicked on.
As for your injector.....no one has messed with it..
 Factory photo......

I cannot explain those MPH's you are missing (now down to @3>5mph)....but I think your scooter is good to go, now.....and may have been after that first tank of new gas and a valve check! No one should be claiming to the public that this is a 65mph scooter.
Me?, I would replace that Florida heat 11 yr old belt with the correct OEM Kymco belt. ...and the tires soon! A road failure of either would not be fun at best - or safe at worst.

I agree with Stig...no way that scoot maintains 65 mph anywhere...even downhill..My S200 had new everything (clutch, belts, sliders, plug, fluids, filters) and wouldn't hit 65 on flat ground with a 150 lb rider aboard.  Holding 50 on these is sketchy, at best...hoping for 55-65 with the 163cc Kymcos just isn't realistic.  My 250cc Honda Helix will hold 71 or 72 on flat ground....but a 150 class? Might be time for a different scoot if hitting 65 is necessary for survival on your local roads.
