I fail to understand its meaning, with 23.5 hp. Why would someone buy XC 300 and not Downtown 300 and get "free" extra 6.5 hp at almost the same price?
Why would they have 300 cc engines with such a difference in output anyway?
To be honest, I see Xcitings 250/500 all the time but never saw a single 300...
There's a few of them here and I see a few owners on local forums (motori.hr).
And to answer your question.. just like asking why you bought the ZR7S and not the
Fazer and got 30hp more, better suspension and brakes etc.. the price difference was
minor.
They're similar, but still different bikes, and I'd still rather get the ZR7.
The Downtown and XCiting are supposedly very different to ride.
I've ridden the Xciting, and will probably be trying out a Downtown if it survives the
next 10 days in Split, but I've seen a lot of people comparing the two.
The Xciting is stiff, a lot more sporty, has bigger wheels and different seating position/style.
It should be a sporty scooter, like the Gilera Nexus.
The Downtown however aims at GT scooters like the Burgman 400/Majesty 400 with more
wind protection, comfort etc.. but yeah, the Xciting is falling behind.
The Xciting 300 isn't even a real 300, like the Piaggio stuff, and the Downtown's new G5
engine is something completely different and it would be logical to see it in the next generation
of Xciting.
I don't think they made the Xciting 300 because they really wanted to, but more to meet the
exhaust stuff regulations and still have an mid sized Xciting to offer in various markets.
The big difference here is the carbs vs fuel injection in the 250 vs 300 equation.
But yeah, at current prices, I don't care if the Downtown has 1" smaller wheels or
anything else, 23 vs 30hp makes all the difference in the world at those low power
outputs.
