Burgman 200 / Kymco 300 ?
« on: October 17, 2023, 10:31:00 PM »

Burgman 200 $4,999
359lbs
wheelbase 57.7

Kymco 300 $5,099
407lbs
Wheelbase 60.8

Having owned the Burgman 400 - I prefer the lines of the Burgman 200. But they are getting 'dated'.
I do not dislike the lines and details of the Kymco.

I trust the Kymco has twin always-on headlights? - as both the 200 & 400 Burgmans do.

The Kymco 300 has a very good reputation - I imagine it is still made in Taiwan, and not China, as are many Kymcos?
(in my mind - Taiwan is the 'new Japan' for build quality)

The Burgman 200 and 400's have a long Japanese pedigree and an established level of dealer sales and support.

Kymco dealership support is somewhat of an adventure in the USA. We have a mail-order parts supplier, to replace the lack of local dealers. Cyclepedia.com supplies service manuals for many Kymcos.
Fortunately most of us have found that Kymco scooters are well made, parts last a long time.
We can service them ourselves - and rarely need dealer support....which is just as well, but not confidence inspiring.

I met up with one local Burgman rider this morning while out with my pup at the reservoir. He, like I did, rides a lot of carefree miles on the roads in this state park! (I put 4000 on my  LIKE in here)

Love the big seats on Burgmans!

Great comparison Stig!

As a proud x-town 300 owner (the very colors you showed!) i can answer your questions.

The lights are permanently on (dual headlight, not led, but very bright) with switch for full beam (brights) vs low beam (dip).

The bike is really a 276cc single cylinder, 2 valve engine. Its very capable (I’m 203lbs…but I’m working on it!) and it easy gets to 60-70 mph and thats about as fast as I want to go on it!

The brakes (disc with Abs front and back ) are exceptionally good.

There are some additional led lights on the front, but these are for fashion not function! They look cool though.

It is a Taiwanese bike, apparently made on a production line that produces honda and bmw scooters for European market.

Gets about 56 mpg (i ride it hard and have only done 750 miles )

I love it!

Ask any questions!

Suzuki is testing hydrogen fueled 'gas' engines in an 8" longer Burgman 400. Gas cylinder takes up space!
