Can't ride so let's mess w/people~!
« on: November 05, 2023, 01:04:03 AM »

Daughter went to the little bakery (Le torte dolci) across the street this morning - while I had to use the free parking garage.
I was sitting on a bench taking a couple photos of the lighting along the street when these ladies pulled up and parked next to the No Parking signs along that side.

The driver spied me taking their picture and asked what I was doing.
I nodded at the sign and said, "I'm with the office of Traffic Enforcement."

They all looked at me.....
After a couple of satisfactory beats... "He's joking Nancy!"
And they went on over to the bakery.

I tossed a small "my name's not Nancy!" at their indifferent backs~!

My daughter came out and asked, "Padre', why were those ladies in there pointing at my father?"

"Beats me."

I remember one employer I had shortly after I graduated college. He was a licensed land surveyor, something I eventually attained myself.

neighbors to our surveys were always curious as to why the owner was having the property surveyed, and many, if not most of our clients wanted us to be hush about the purpose of the survey (usually a housing development)

the fibs my boss told at times were hilarious, of course a habit I picked up myself. one particular fib I told back in 70's when the nearby Seabrook nuclear power plant was still being permitted, was that we were surveying for an alternate site for the nuke plant. One project the rumor gained traction, and next thing I know there are editorials in the local newspaper
