Yamaha X-Max 300 vs Kymco DTX320
« on: November 16, 2023, 04:00:09 PM »
Just ridden one of these (taking a mate's to get a new tyre fitted for him) and it led me to compare it to my DTX320.  Now I've always had a yen for an X-Max 400, but having ridden this example, with only 1,600 miles on the Odo, I think I'm glad I never shelled out my hard-earned on one!

It's OK, but just a few areas that my Kymco is way better on are:

Suspension - like an old armchair compared to the Kymco, no feel just plenty of bounce / wallow
Steering - severe understeer compared to my scooter, it was like turning the QE2
Brakes - no feel compared to the DTX
Seating - comfortable, but noticeably less leg room than the K
Clocks - nice, but very 1980's

Better things:

Power - feels about the same so that's good.
Ambient Temp gauge - it's got one, my DTX hasn't!
Mirrors - I could see past my shoulders as standard

Have I been spoiled by my 2 Kymcos?  D'you know I think maybe I have.
