Like/Agility 200i
« on: January 13, 2024, 09:45:34 AM »
Hello

Having some problems with the Like 200i engine.
At first was showing fault codes 16, 6 & 2. CPS, battery voltage and head temp sensor problems.
The engine cranked but didn't want to start.
Changed the air filter, cleaned the injector and reset the codes. Manually with the throttle procedure and also with the Kymco diagnostic tool. Also checked, cleaned and tighten the ground wire as suggested. Checked the intake manifold and clamps. Preventively changed the spark plug.

Now it seems like the level problem :)
It cranks, also starts but dies after some seconds
It seems like a problem whiskers626 had some time ago.

Showing no fault code on the dashboard

Do anyone have some advice?

@kakaroth welcome here in this hive!
Pls do some basic checks before we go further...

-sparkplug out and assure continous sparking when you crank, cap and cable properly fixed?

-injector out and assure permanent spraying of fuel when cranking

-reverse flush your injector

-clean out this transparent tube hanging down under your motor

-take a jumpstart battery to assure proper voltage
-open fuel tank cap

Pls come back for feedback or Qs.
Seeing whiskers posts back from 2019 to 2021: yes was similar, solved it with a new fuelpump and filter, but this I would keep as a last resort.

Good morning!
What year is your LIKE?
How many miles?
When was the last time it ran well - are you the original owner? If not - previous owner having issues with it?
Was it ridden regularly...or has it sat for a long time?

Need some basic info here.

Thanks for beeing interested in the matter  ;D

The bike is year 2018, 4800 miles.
It was working fine till some days ago.
The truth is not really my bike, it's my friends bike. I'm trying to fix it.

The spark seems to be ok and regular, also the injector - continuous and dispersed jet.
Transparent tube from the airbox cleaned. As I said I also changed a new air filter becouse the old one was really dirty  ;D

I have used both booster starter and a brand new battery...but the problem remains.

In my opinion shouldn't be a fuel pump problem as the fuel filter fills up properly when turning the ignition key to on

I'm starting to believe it could be a ECU probem...

OK, it is now starting, but stops? Is that still correct?
It will start pretty much every time - if given a rest for a time?

Really certain about the intake not having a crack in a hard to see location?

Enough fuel and pressure to start - but then dies...  Any chance that the fuel pump line in the tank has rotted - sending gunk to the injector and leaking off fuel pressure? It has happened - but usually on older LIKEs.

ECU's are expensive (@$230) - let's hope it's not that. Very rare if it was down to a failed ECU.

so, it is still starting....then dies?

yeah, it starts then the revs go up for a moment or two (seems nothing so unusual) then the revs fall down and then the engine like having a problem with keeping in idle.
As you figure it out - it starts pretty much every time but then I have to - like pump and release throttle fast to keeping it from dying.
As soon I release it it goes off.

I checked once again the intake manifold but it looks ok. Also the compression - 150 psi - looks good.

Now I noticed the spark plug is little bit wet after taking it out even when the engine starts.
Maybe not all the fuel burns inside and that somehow prevents from running smooth.
I should probably open the cylinder head and check the valves and valve seals.

checked again the injector. everything's ok.
opened the fuel tank. no dirt/gunk in the fuel.
fuel pump works fine. on ignition switching on and when cranking. delivers enough fuel. fuel filter also clean. no signs of water or condensation in it.

so on the side of fuel/spark we're good.

found the TPV/ABV initialization process. did that just to exclude all other possible causes.

same thing, starts up and then dies after some seconds

all leads to throttle body or ecu issue...

just one more thing....is the hole in the hatch of throttle body normal. never seen that. airflow for the idle gas flows elswhere.

Just a thought. Had a few cases of this.

(Never heard of a problem with fuel delivery due to a clogged filter (on the end of the pump)

I suppose it could be a problem with the ECU -  normally a very robust/reliable part of the EFI.
I'm no expert - but it seems to me to be a problem with fuel delivery - it stops delivering any, or not enough fuel. Clogged for some reason.

Valves off is a "hard to start" symptom. But would be strange at only 4800 miles.
You have spark and compression....

Plug in this DiagTool and go to menu:
-failure codes
-any ? If ECU faulty then several would show

-menu point: airflow, should be more than 80% and vary when WOT

-do NOT try to adjust anything with this hex screws on top of your throttle body

-do NOT try to adjust anything on your ECU by moving LH blackbox on your throttle body (paint dots)

-as a long shot: open CVT cover and check whether your belt and clutch is in service order

To clarify (for me)
You've had the fuel pump out of the tank, and checked the lines already?
The only fuel filter on a stock LIKE200i is on the end of the fuel pump, in the tank.

yes, that's true but on the scooter there's another fuel filter in the fuel line.
that was not installed by the user and the scooter worked fine till some days ago despite having this (reduntant as it seems) filter.
the fuel flow is normal with it.

the DIAGTOOL showing no failure codes nor the engine light blinks on the dash
CVT cover opened. everything OK.

found on the net compression should be at least 200 psi for a 200 cc gy6 engine but 150 seems to me enough. it sucks the palm of my hand in when pressing against throttle body. if it wasn't enough it would not even start or at least it would have major difficulties starting.

Seems to me the injector somehow clogged after a while of running.
Check here in forum how to RE-flush an injector, might help.

If possible take out this additional fuel filter and install a new one piece fuel line which is y for this pressure.

Check this four(4) pronged connector to your heat sensor in its exhaust pipe, rigid cables...

Check vacuum lines with a leak spray.

Take air intake completely off, see what happens.

Try another ignition coil. (take the cheapest one from AMAXON for testing)

On this pic under injector: small black rubber hose might not be tight, clamp behind stud...

Hi guys

First of all thanks to all especially to Stig.

Opened the fuel tank and found a lot of dust and particles....I don't know how they got into but surely it was this what clogged the pump
Cleaned the tank, ordered a new fuel pump.
Also....when disassembling the head&cylinder found pieces of the pison in the crankcase.

Just after found out that the pison has already been changed.....wtf, didn't know that

To shorten ..... now it runs like a baby....  ;D

Thanks again!
