help starting UXV 500
« on: January 18, 2024, 08:32:07 PM »
I have a been loaned a UVX 500 to use on the farm.  It was running fine until last week.  I had it parked idling and had the lights on to work on some outdoor plumbing at night when it died.  I tried charging the battery and replaced the battery.  It has no power at all.   What should I check next?  Ben

Battery connections clean? No corrosion? Green on one and white on other = bad connection. Can be tighter than a gnat's butt stretched over a banjo and still not conduct.

I gather everything went off, right?

All the battery connections are connected to their correct colors.  No power at all. I thought about getting all new fuses although they all look fine.

The colors I mentioned are relating to corrosion at the terminals. The hint was to disconnect the terminals at the battery, inspect for corrosion and reconnect..

Question: did everything just "turn off" all at once?
Question: have you inspected for loose connections?

I've had cancer of the wire harness on my V-Strom, could be at any connection, I use products from CAIG Labs for electrical cleaners & greases (conductive & non-conductive) great products ! https://caig.com/

Approach this issue logical:
-take a multimeter of testlamp
- battery has how many volts DC?
-ignition on
-killswitch on ON
-MM or testlamp on starter relay, current there?
In this way handle further.until you see NO CURRENT
-then scrutinize this surrounding for open connectors, broken cables, etc...
