I have newer Kymco Super 8 150. I washed it the other day. Rode it around for 10 minutes to dry it. The next day I rode it 5 miles and in turning in to complex, it would not rev up just would stay on at idle but die if pulled the throttle. I had to walk it about a mile. I tried a few things later in the day tipping bike , took air filter off . sprayed starter fluid . Something worked and got me home that evening. The next day rode it for an erand no problem. Then it happened again . It starts right up idles yuo can rev it but a few minutes later when you pull back throttle it just bubmbles and if you keep it pulled it most likely dies. BUT not all the time . I pulled the filter off sprayed starter fliud a couple times and seems if I dont let go of throttle it will get me where i want but if its stop and go could be a problem  but this is definately not the fix. I went one day were nothing was a problem , how odd. Any one have any ideas ? Thank s.

These things are made to run after riding or sitting in the rain. I've ridden in the rain many times.
Where did you put the water?

sounds like it may be a carb issue? Easy for carbs to get some gunk in the jets or passages, especially if not ridden regularly.

I'm guessing here, but let's start at the top.  A Super 8 150 isn't a new Kymco, it might be 10 or 15 years old. It's likely carbureted, not fuel injected.  If so, it will be struggling to run on ethanol mix, or (worse), OLD ethanol mix.  Carbureted motors were designed for ordinary petrol, no ethanol.  In a pinch they'll run nicely with straight boat gas, tractor gas - or even 100LL avgas.  But no ethanol in the mix. An older Kymco on ethanol is really hard to start, and will stumble and backfire until it gets warm.  There's not a lot that can be done, possibly up-jet the pilot jet.  If it's a Kymco carburetor, there's no jets available except the stock jets, so you have to switch to a Keihin CVK carb (20 or 22mm).   You might be lucky and find a pure petrol supply near home. The good news is that once it's warmed up it will run just fine!

I bought replacement Keihin jets for my scoot..they were identical to the OEM ones (I had a Kymco branded carb..I think)

But I’d first start with a thorough carb cleaning

Howdy, lots of interesting answers.
 I will just go down the list.
1. yes it is new a 2022. Maybe its old technology, yes a carb.
2.I ride it every day and it is hot out, im in Florida, gas is fresh.
3.Maybe the hose got water somewhere it shouldn't have.
4. Ive been riding no problem , went away for a week , started and ran when came back no problem. Today it rained part of the day. I started it and got half way to laundry ( half a mile ) and it stumbled but made it. I started it leaving made it 50 yards and stumbled. When you pull on throttle it slowly dies and no power. So I was prepared and like before , first I pulled off the outside cover of airfilter. It started areved a little better but it stalled on the stand when I pulled back on throtlle. I made it a block and that was it. I pulled the filter off and it started up.When you look thru filter yo see day light and it seems dry. It started but I sprayed starter fluid in it to get me home, which is 3 blocks, if I keep throttle on lightly it wont stall. But heck cant live like this !  Any ideas my friends ? Thank  you.

Well, a 2022, so it's not a problem coming from ethanol gas.
In Florida heat...should have baked out water from wherever. And rain coming down on an Asian scooter shouldn't be a problem.
Did something 'short' during the wash, that not come back healthy?
Just throwing pasta on the wall here.
What IS going on with your newish scooter!?
Anyway, not an ethanol problem....but sure no water in gas? Do they sell dry gas in Florida? Added to tank...
Prevents fuel line freezing in winter from water in gas. Also collects water to burn the suspect gas through engine.

I could find the dry gas and try it , couldn't hurt. How would water get in tank with the lid locked closed and the seat down ? But the peculiar thing is it was running with the filter and cover back on  until the rainy day yesterday. To get home It will run with the air filter off only.

that could do it, velocity could cool the moisture to ice crystals = carb icing

No  the filter is not wet. The scooter is protected from the rain . It was a rainy day is what I was saying when had these strange things happen again. So it seems ( could be wrong ) it starts and runs with the filter off when it was raining early in the day. But when I came home from being a away a week it started and ran just fine with all the components attached including the filter.
