ABS light
« on: June 16, 2024, 12:47:29 PM »
I have a new ('23) People S 150i ABS. When I start it up all the warning lights go out except the ABS. If I let the scooter idle the ABS light stays on. Once I start to take off then it goes out. Is it normal to stay on when idling during start up?

Yes.  Usually you have to hit 5-10 mph before it goes off.

my Ninja 300 with ABS does the exact same thing...and the 'light staying on' is a common question on the Ninja 300 forum. Normal on the Ninja and probably normal on your scoot, too. I'm sure another S150i owner will chime in to confirm.

My first ABS experience was the day they delivered my new Burgman 400. He rolled it out of the trailer and up the drive - we both remarked on how heavy it was! (@500lbs)  (he hadn't put it in the trailer)
Looked it over -  signed the papers, gave him the check, etc.
I started it and, "hello? what's with the ABS light on!?"
He used his phone to call the dealer the other side of Ohio.
"The light will go out when speedo shows @10-15MPH. Normal!"

It did. Pretty exciting there for about 2 mins!
My Liberty does the same.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

This is normal and indicates that the ABS is working.

If the light stays on when riding then there is a fault, most commonly the wheel speed sensor and rarely the ABS module.
