10,000 mile mini-review, Liberty150i
« on: June 17, 2024, 03:38:34 PM »
10,000 miles went right by without me noticing! Scooter purchased just about this time of the year, 2017.
155cc, air-cooled, EFI, 16/14in wheels. ABS/front, LED DRL's

Cons: plastic gas cap was cr_p. (billet cap, ebay. $12)

Likes: EFI reliability in all weathers, easy DIY service, build quality, parts prices and availability, LIBERTY service manual is $17, big wheel ride, seat, lights. Other than the NGK iridium plug - I use only OEM parts.
I prefer the style of many Italian and French scooters.

Regrets: wish I could afford a white one, too!

The LIKE200i shares road time with the Liberty, 50/50 - from day one.....except in heavy fog at night. Then I always take the Liberty! Both get ridden in the rain and below freezing.

Stig

PS: both top out at @ 60mph on the speedo. So probably @55mph. The 163cc LIKE has more grunt off of stops if I need it.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Not sure how long it's going to take before I see 10K on my DTX?  Sooner than the Triumph, that's for sure!

Couple of charity runs this year should pile a few more miles on and just trying to schedule in a trip to Yorkshire on the scooter so I can meander through the Pennines & Yorkshire Dales again.  We'll see.  I need some excuse to use my new (to me) SatNav in anger!

Stig, you've had surprisingly (or not?) great reliability on your scoots. Daily ridden in all weather conditions with a larger cargo weight (?) than most scoots! Pretty much zero issues as I can recall over multiple sized scoots and brands. Very encouraging.

Also, 10K miles in 7 years...x2 scoots...puts you around 20K miles in 7 years or just under 3K miles per year. With your daily trips I would have thought you'd do more miles than that?  I always assumed a 30 or 40 mile round trip to Yellow Springs?

Last time I kept a log I was averaging a scooter ride a bit over every 3 days. Then came sciatica,  hospitalization for sepsis, a few surgeries for skin cancer, a knee injury, and then covid.  Plus there are wintery days and weeks each year....when dangerous to ride.
Bearing all this in mind - has a lot to do with why I'll happily ride out for coffee in a rain storm......plus I get a perverse kick out of it🙃
I am just grateful He gives me opportunities to ride as much as I do!
Another area I notice I've slowed down - is servicing my scooters.  I no longer change the oil every 800 miles  or check the valves every month,!
I hope to improve on that this summer!

what was the question again?
