Well It's now late August, and I've changed my mind. I was able to purchase the Kymco plastic factory hand guards from ALiExpress for under $30. They are great at keeping my hands out of the wind. After much debate, I decided to cut down the factory windscreen 5". I'm 5' 10" and the wind now buffers just over the top of my helmet. The wet weather visibility is greatly improved as I can now see over the top of the windshield. I also picked up several MPH on the top end. Haven't verified with my GPS yet, but the Kymco speedometer is showing 66MPH.
I know I must be wrong - because I discard any screen larger than fly-screen or 'sport screen' size. Yet the Europeans ride around on big wheel scooters with tall screens - and it rains a lot in Europe!
I really like riding in the countryside in dark and rain - but for me it is enough of an adventure to ride at night in heavy rains - without the added issue of looking through a wet screen.
Fog and mist can be nearly as bad as a heavy rain. I'm wiping my face shield every 15 seconds - and wonder what I'd do if I had a tall screen and it was becoming impossible.
"One-cutting" screens - an adventure in guesswork. Get it wrong - you can't put it back!
Not that the cutter hasn't already thought of that.
Your black checks!....are they reflective at night?
