Deery morning & crossing guard
« on: July 26, 2024, 06:17:59 PM »
I counted 5 groups of deer this morning at daybreak on my way out for coffee.
True, I went looking for them after I had an event on the way into the village.

The first group was a little exciting. On a hilltop I spotted 2 disappearing into trees on my right, and 3 more heads looking over the corn at me on the left.
I also saw 2 cars approaching at speed from the front and a truck coming from behind.
I parked on the shoulder & put the stand down, got off to flag the cars to slow.
2 drivers cooperated, but the truck slowed only a bit and just missed a large deer as it crossed in front of us.

No time for photos during the above - but in the village I took pics of 4 more groups.
The scooter is quiet enough that they don't bolt away if I approach slowly. The giant yellow helmet is a puzzle for them :)
You've all seen a deer before - so just these two pics:

mom here stared at me for the longest time.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.
