Xenon headlight ?????
« on: January 05, 2011, 05:37:35 PM »
scooterwest.com (among other sites for scooter parts) SEEM TO SAY ??..that there is a $16+/-  30 watt xenon headlight bulb that can be used in an Agility 125 (and therefore maybe ?? in an Agility 50) scooter.
If this is realllllllly true......I sure would be willing to spread a little bread to get better night time riding.
Anyone have wisedom on this subject... ;D ;D ;D

Blue....That was one of the things that I was worried about.  The plastic shield and maybe the reflector may not take the heat of the xenon bulb Espectially in the heat of the summer just sitting and idleing for a few minutes.
Of course that doesn't matter much if you can't get it somehow into place to begin with...and then there is the additional wattage, though it does not seem like much more than the original head light bulb.
I have to wonder if Kymco could not have afforded a little bit better head light.  It works well enough where the streets are well lit, but not so good elsewhere for spotting the rough pavement etc. after dark. ;D ;D ;D

just rember your scott runs off a battery and the stater so watt and the amps you are running matters.
You well need to find lights that can handle what power your stater puts out. if to high of watts or amps you well do damage. Or make sure the lights have a fuse on theam so that well blow with out hurting anything.

Certainly looks brighter.

Should give you a much better view of the road at night.

Let us know how it works in practice.

Did you have to cut out the head light cover so it well not melt.

The headlight cover is the same, only difference is the socket for the bulb which I changed to steel... :) The bulb is at a distant where it won't melt the plastic.

If anyone is interested, this is the place I ordered my stuff from: http://www.ddmtuning.com/
They have great prices but their products seem to have very good quality. Their shipping takes a while, they seem to have a lot of orders to process... Took about 9 work days to get it.

Edit: Oh for those who don't know. When the light starts up it draws just under 6 amps, and then down to 3 when it's warm.

aokark..........Thanks for the info and pics.
I guess you went for one of the motorcycle HID kits..........couldn't tell which one.....can you give the kit or model number.
I guess you don't have any trouble with the 6 amp draw when starting the scooter up, or do you turn the lamp on after start-up(??)
How did you go about adjusting and/or focusing the lamp.  I would think some of that needed doing before you started drilling holes or making permanent installation.....or not???...does it have a high and low beam( or any problem shining in the eyes of oncoming motorists)..can it be readjusted if necessary after installation?
Does it take the road pounding without any special cushioning?
..........Looks good.......what haven't I thought to ask....Well, what problems if any did you run into.
