rear lighting~!
« on: September 09, 2024, 06:53:28 PM »

I'm hopping off frequently to take photos at night.
I park on shoulders and usually stand off of the road surface.
I think most riders focus on their head lights - I spend time and $ on my rear lighting.
If I rode wot, as most seem to like to - I'd be more concerned about front lighting.

I hear you! I'm more about rear lighting than front lighting, too. That's why I've had a brake free light on my helmet for a number of years, now. Cars noticeably back off from me with it on..wouldn't leave home without it.

I also put a flashing rear brake light LED bar on all my bikes.

It is not way up high but traffic from behind still see it and slow down and stop long before getting to me.

On my 200i I have the flashing brake light that stops flashing are 5 seconds if you hold the brake on. I think it gets the attention of the other drivers.

I happened upon a Burgman forum post in which the OP spoke of using Tailblazer bulbs. An easy installation...last a long time, are bright....can be moved from bike to bike. A little pricey.....but looked idiotproof.....just my thing.
I went with the halogen Tailblazer bulbs (reports were disappointing about the LED version). The Burgman is crazy easy to get at the bulbs, so the installation was simple.
I like them. Bright, they pulse a few times as I apply the brakes.....and haven't altered the looks or messed with the wiring.
They came with extra bulbs.....and reports are that I won't need the spares for a very long time, if ever.
I can recommend these bulbs if you're looking for a little extra protection from following cars.

I went all LEDs on the SYMs, & filled in the Euro lights in addition to keeping the stalks for blinkers.
Also added a Shad case light for extra visibility and an eye catching change when braking (The Shad light is not a running light, it only comes on when braking)
The difference on both ends is amazing.  If you can't see it, you're not looking....Which is sadly sometimes the case.
