Rear tailight issue

Hello,
I have a 2013 300GTI that seems to be having issues with the tailight. First, I bought it with an LED bulb in it and that seemed to work for awhile, then I noticed it was not working. I thought that maybe it was the wire or switch so I took apart the handlebars to check the connections. Those were all good so I started searching for a new bulb. They are nearly impossible to find it seems, and ended up getting a new one from LEDPerf. Put the bulb in and it worked great; flashes, steady on at idle, etc. Rode 4 miles to work and noticed when I went home it wasn't working again. No flash and no on at idle. Why would this keep breaking? Any easy way to trace wiring like removing the seat or body panel. Would a fuse or ground do this? Any other good sources to buy a tail light bulb besides this one foreign website?

Reading your post  I would start to check my regulator/rectifier for being shot or partly demaged to produce too high a voltage.

-take a multimeter

-put leads on batterys poles or better disconnect the plug which comes with red and green from reg/rec to battery and measure there

-start the scoot
-reads more than 15.O or up to 17.0 VDC?
-if YES, your reg/rec is to be replaced

-if NO, well,  come back and we will search

LEDs are sometimes not high quality and ICs in there fail occasionally.

Thanks! I will make sure to check that and report back my findings. Hoping it is something easy to pin point. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and this one has thrown me for a little loop.

Where is the regulator located on these? I only see positive and negative cables in the battery tray. There is also a plug with three smaller wires that is capped and looks like a diagnostic plug. I is not running into anything that I can see.

If you have you reg in your hands you will see a plug with (3) three yellow cables from generator and a TWO PRONGED  connector, THERE you should measure voltage.

-red and green from reg go to your battery
-small capped plug with three pins (female) is its diagnostic connector

Thanks! Is it relatively easy to get the seat pan out? I was looking at it last night and it looks like a few things hold it on there like a 12V socket and then some nuts all the way around. I did have to replace the battery this spring despite it only being a year old. I am wondering if I have been seeing voltage issue for a bit now (this is more of a toy that primary vehicle).

METIN box easy to remove. Few nuts, disconnect charger plug and tray light... (after taking the box out, cables are long enough)
Eating batteries might also be a sign of overtension. Let's see what we find.

@Ruffus I removed the seat last night finally but didnt have luck finding the voltage regulator. I think I might need to remove the right side body panel, but that looks a bit more intensive. I can see a small block with wires with a red and black cap that looks something like a solenoid maybe? I also see a plug with three yellow wires plugged into another three yellow wires, but this runs along the frame rail and I can't really see where it goes into the wire harness. Am I on the right path?

Just have a look at that pic. Easy to find if you know where. Two 6mm nuts keep it in place, nuts can be reached by reaching between frame and outer cover, also from ouside reaching up from mufflers side.
