46th annual motorcycle club toy run
« on: October 21, 2024, 12:50:49 PM »
The Highway Hiker's 46th Annual Toy Run went through Springfield, OH yesterday.
We were headed across town to the library and found major intersections downtown blocked by police cars and highway patrol cars.
These days, we wondered if Springfield was getting another visit from another kkk, proud boys or neo-nazi group?

No! it was miles and miles of motorcyclists riding through town out to the fairgrounds - for the annual toy run!
The newspaper said that the convoy of 3,000-plus motorcyclists nearly spanned the entire county!

sadly, my daughter, who works nights at the city hospital, reported that 4 motorcylists were admitted through the E.R.

I just figure they're a lot better riders than I am.
I recently turned down two group scooter rides 2 counties over.
Not my idea of a fun scooter ride.

we just had our capital region toys for tots run here by Brunswick Harley Davidson in NY. we had over 700 riders signed up! I have ridden in them before and it's pretty exciting. I still am not a fan of group rides though. but, it is a great cause

I'd echo all those comments about group ride outs.  At best I'd keep it to two or three others...  that I trusted implicitly!  These days, following the death from Alzheimer's of my best biking buddy, it's rare for me to ride with anyone else.
Regards & ride safe,

I really used to enjoy these charity type rides when I had my Harley. The last one I went on one was with my Kymco GTI 300i in 2013. I think I was the only scooter out of hundreds of motorcycles. I felt so out of place, I never went again. Unfortunately, here in central New York there are no groups or organizations that have an active participation for scooters. I've been riding mostly alone for a long time and miss the group rides.
