NSR: how do you make coffee?
« on: October 24, 2024, 11:58:59 AM »

Lately my favorite method is to use a little one-cup Melitta and paper cone. ("poor man's Chemex!")
Heat water, pour to 'wet' the grounds, Wait a few seconds - then pour in the not-quite boiling water.

When Vincent's bandage appears - add a bit of 1/2-1/2 and go work on the scooter.

You?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

grind my beans in my 20 yr old burr grinder then make coffee in my Capresso (also 20 yrs old) coffee maker with thermal carafe. I use paper filters..but ironically, today I had to use my reusable gold filter because I ran out of coffee filters! The gold filter works ok but doesn't do as good a job of filtering so I get a little coffee 'residue' in the bottom.

I love the thermal carafe because it doesn't continue to 'cook' the coffee like the old school coffee makers with a hot plate. I also preheat my thermal carafe and thermal coffee mug with hot water prior to use.

my Dad drank instant coffee when I was growing up..my Mom prepared it for him in the morning and after dinner. I had to do a search to see just exactly what instant coffee was and how it was created! Surprisingly it was invented in 1890.

my parents drank instant when I was growing up, for the most part, Sundays sometimes they would use the percolator. After I left home, at some point they switched to ground coffee in a drip coffee maker

I made coffee in a drip coffee maker up till about 5 or 6 years ago when I discovered Cafe Bustelo instant, I have mixed cocoa with my coffee for at least 30 years, and tried several brands, turns out I like Walmart the best the right amount if sugar and milk solids in the powder, most other brands are way to sweet

Stove-top espresso is the only way to make coffee!  1/4 cup, then add 3/4 cup hot milk. It's too strong in the evening, but excellent on a cold day.  Tea in the evening.  Life is good in winter!

At 5 yrs old, took a sip of my mom’s Maxwell House.  Black.  Never drank coffee again.  Still don’t like the smell.  Recently discovered Yerba mate and guayausa, they are my morning drinks now. On kratom off days, anyway.

That oughta get some google searches going.
