Last valve check and new spark plug was 4 yrs and 5,500 miles ago.
Nothing dramatic - just a lot of crawling around on the floor....and trying to spot that very faint "T" for TDC. I painted the T a few yrs ago - but it's faded. I like to do the "T" and the marks on the chain sprocket. Belt and braces kinda guy here.
Removing the seat is just 4 bolts and 2 screws; 3 screws removes the battery cover; 2 more removes the front panel giving very easy access to the valve cover and spark plug.
Remove the old NGK Iridium.....paying close attention to the angle of removal - to reduce chances of cross-threading the new plug!
4 easy 10mm bolts drops the valve cover. mind the location of the bolts.
Rotate the engine via the fan cover to find TDC. Check with .04 & .05 blade - "4 fits and 5 doesn't " I'm good. Might have been a little snug - so I adjusted.
Renew the valve cover gasket - insuring it's snug in the pinch points which Kymco gives us! You drop the gasket during reinstall - you'll have an oil leak and will be starting all over! I use a little grease to hold it in place.
Then I rolled it out of the garage to see if it still runs!
It did.
Next is a new belt and sliders.
When my knees feel better.....
