New to me Like 200i.
« on: November 04, 2024, 01:47:24 PM »
I'm a new owner of a used Like 200i, and it has some problems. I found the fuel pressure spec here, bar 3 bar (45psi). My original pump was putting out 20psi. I replaced it with a Kemso pump from Amazon. My fuel pressure now shows 35psi, and it now starts and runs. It has a rough idle, and a surge when trying to ride the scooter. There are no detectable vacuum leaks.

My dash check engine light doesn't come on, and the clock is inop. No display. I purchased a cable to adapt my OBDII code reader to this scooter, and the code reader show no codes.

The scooter is in decent shape for it's age. The plastics are all good. I'd like to restore it, and keep it. Any advice is welcomed. I'm in Lecanto, Fl. about 1 hour north of Tampa.

Welcome here and congrats!
Usually the LIKE 200i is a very likeable and reliable product.

Rough idle: new airfilter, new plug and cap, new fuel filter or fuel hose WITHIN fuel tank

Surge when ridden: either above mentioned or your CVT needs a belt, rollers and clutch.
Maybe look at that too.
Try a TPS and code reset (see pics).

BUT: DO NOT try to regulate anything on your injection system.

Thanks for the response, Ruffus. I will do both, and see if anything changes. Mt check engine light doesn't appear to work, as it doesn't come on with the key.

Ok, CEL not working could mean a broken circuit within your dashboard, not sure about...

Which OBD II would work with a KYMCO ECU?
Would be interesting to see. I tried a lot of this stuff, unsuccessful. Only my DiagTool seems to communicate with my scoots.

Ah, there are two (I think) paintlocked and other crossbolt screws on your throttle body. Do NOT TOUCH them.

I'm using a plain $10 code reader with this cable: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091YHDKP6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

It went thru the same procedure as when reading my car, so I'm assuming it's working.

Curious here.
How was your LIKE running with the original fuel pump, before you replaced it?
Same as now, or??

I bought it not running. It's wouldn't start with the old pump. As I stated the old pump had 20psi, and the new one 35psi, which is still lower than what I read on this site. The injector has a crappy spray pattern, so I am replacing it. Bought a new one, and just haven't gotten it in yet.
