coffee shops smell great coming in from a dark wet ride!
« on: November 06, 2024, 06:17:18 PM »

This part of Ohio is still experiencing a drought...but we had a little rain predicted for early this morning, so I made plans to get up extra early to catch a ride in it.
Very mild temps and a little wind made for a pleasant ride out for coffee - and for just scooter riding at night, in the rain!
Favorites, both.
I had Dino's first pour of his stout Kenyan AA this morning. He never makes weak coffee - but this cup was tough~!

I've managed two rides out this week Stig, but neither of them pre-10:00 am!  Temps here 12C one day and 14C the other which is unseasonably mild.  UK Stuck under a stationary High Pressure pattern for two weeks now so no rain, but cloudy, misty and v dull.  Only sunshine has been in the far NE of mainland Scotland where it was 16C...
Regards & ride safe,

I was first through the door yesterday - and told Dino, "you smell really good! Is it something 'Italian' "?

Fortunately, he laughed.
I tell you - that first pour of his morning was some of the strongest coffee ever!
The UnderDog, which opens 15 mins later just down the street - has several pots for self-serving. "House Blend choice today" - and something labeled "Midnight" and others.

I was feeling my beans one morning, years ago, and filled my cup from the Midnight pot. 1/2 hr later I was feeling slightly 'drugged'!
A few yrs ago I was standing in line to pay for my coffee in the UnderDog when I realized I was standing in line behind my wife's boss..*
I said, "good morning Nancy". She turned and peered up at me, finally recognized me - because it was very cold out and I always keep my helmet on when I go into Y.S's shops.
She scowled and said, "Tom, what are you supposed to be?"
I smiled and said, "this morning - an astronaut!"

The UnderDog is an old-style coffee shop.

I loved this scene which had been painted in color on the side of the Dog, for years.

* This lady, my wife's former boss at the courthouse - is the person somewhat responsible for my wife & I getting together (over 3 decades ago!)
My wife had been dating a number of 'suits', lawyers and state congressmen & such - who turned out to be losers.
Her boss, exasperated, said to her, "why don't you approach that new crew leader in the work-fare dept. I've heard good things about him over the past year - for instance he is single-parenting 3 young children."
With three children to take care of - no way was I looking to date! This cute young blonde had other ideas. (she also fibbed to me on her age!)

Our Husky lies with her back legs out like that!  Only dog we've ever owned that does it.

As for the age fibs thing, I take it she overstated her age?

Yeah - I'd not have asked her to lunch if I'd known she was in grade school while I was in Vietnam!
