Glad I'm not scooter-commuting this morning
« on: January 15, 2025, 11:35:59 AM »

My coldest work commute on my scooter was Jan 14, 2015. I arrived at work at 4:51am.

I was a little concerned about how the plastic panels would do in this cold - the temp was sitting at 5°F.
After I got to work, I turned around to take a snap with my phone - figured i might be setting a personal record that morning.

I used my LIKE for work yr/around commuting from my house in the 'burbs through town throughout the year - if roads clear of snow and ice.

Of course - as every LIKE200i owner knows - the scooter fired up instantly on that 5°F morning.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Know wotcha mean Stig!

I had 20-odd years of commuting on two wheels and sub zero mornings were always something of a challenge to the grit & determination.  Not sure it ever got down to -1F for me, I seem to recall my worst journey was around -2C with no, that's right zero heated 'bars, gloves or other apparel!  26 miles in those conditions was certainly character forming.  Plenty of stops en route to warm my leather skiing mittens on the exhaust down pipes to restore feeling in my hands.  Really don't miss that.

Interestingly, I never recall anything other than my hands being unbearably cold?  My cold weather Dianese kit and Altberg boots obviously made to high standards.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

yes, cold, yesterday, I positioned my tractor with the bucket up to my walk out door, today, or maybe a warmer day, I plan on loading my FULL ash barrel from my wood furnace, into the bucket and bring it to my garden where I spread it.

Tractor completely blocked my drive, not expecting anyone so I left it in the middle of the drive. Sure enough, today is fuel oil delivery day, no problem, enough hose to get to the filler. That was this morning, this afternoon, LP delivery for my barn, tractor wouldn't start, 20° colder than yesterday, only single digits. yesterday it started right up. Diesel is treated with anti-gel, I cranked a fair amount, and plenty of glow plug time, no go, before I attempt again I will put my battery charger on it to get a full charge
