poor placement of an airfilter
« on: January 19, 2025, 09:23:48 PM »
Well, actually - I think it was a combination of the filter placement and the lack of protection from the rear tire.
It sure made the filter dirty on my 2013 (or '14 ?) Burgman 400.
I actually constructed and installed a baffle to give it more protection from the rear tire.

This is after maybe 4,000 miles.

conversely, my LIKE200i's airfilter stays clean for a long time - the end of the air-intake snorkel is so well placed within the panels!

now that's a dirty air filter! I'm used to seeing filters on scoots that almost look like new. I guess where you ride will play a part in the conditions of the filter, too.

That airfilter traveled the same roads as all my scooters.....but was not protected from the rear tire. Even some Burgman owners on their forum said I was riding on dirt roads - other riders with the same year Burgman came to my defense. Just a poor design that year. It was forward - under the seat. The tire threw stuff right at it.
