olfactory benefits of rural dawn riding!
« on: February 04, 2025, 05:13:29 PM »
I was riding along on a misty dark morning a few days ago when I passed a farmhouse set close to the road.
It was pitch dark and an hour before sunrise - yet when I passed I smelled the aroma of a woodburning fireplace ..... and bacon!!
Can't lie - that made me smile!

Some lucky mornings I get the added flavor of pastries from these guys.....

It's all good!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Serious comment now, my best ride for scents was one early summer's morning taking eldest daughter to South Wales.  About 7:00 am winding along a valley floor in mid-Wales taking in the smells of dew-laden fresh mown grass (from a silage cut?) made it a "great to be alive" day.  Helped by the superb road as well and the old faithful Daytona 955i which was performing faultlessly as usual.

I never tire of the dawn smells in rural Ohio.
At cutting time/harvest time it is really special!

Even the cow poop makes me smile.

You're right Stig it all adds to that Zen-like calm that comes on a good ride.  Always improves my mood.
