A question about a new cylinder head and valve clearances
« on: February 18, 2025, 04:21:08 PM »
Hello!
As it happens my Agility 50 Euro 5 needs a new cylinder head after getting a bad crack around the spark plug hole.
I also decided to replace the original cylinder with a 47mm (72cc) bore kit and a new 47mm cylinder head with 69mm valves. The service manual has both valve clearances at 0,04mm (~ .0016 in).

So the question is does the new chinese head, using the original cam and lifters but random chinese valves and springs that came with it require OEM's tight clearances or looser gy6 ones like 0,1mm (.004+in)?

Thanks!

Do a 0.10mm valve lash after mounting, then check having done 500 kms of driving, 0.10 mm again.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

This is the current plan. Adjust them to 0.1mm and see how that works.
