Insight needed Kymco Carry / Agility 50i - 2021
« on: March 07, 2025, 06:13:08 PM »
Hello and good evening all,

A few months ago i bought a Kymco Carry / agility 50i ? ( Injection Carry model ) for my wife.
the scooter drove pretty average but what could you expect from a european limited model.

after a few months some issues would surface up which i could easily take care of myself
IE ; Scooter would not inject anymore turns out the pick up sensor was malfunctioning and i ended up replacing the sensor and the injector altogether given the high mileage this scooter had.

a few weeks ago the scooter would not start at all anymore.
with a lot of time being consumed by my own project and work i brought it to a mechanic.

Mechanic stated that the entire engine was clogged up by oil usage and adviced to replace the cilinder and piston.
i told him to replace the cilinder head and any part that he remotely suspects of wear aswell.

fast forward 3 weeks and the mechanic still could not get the scooter to function properly.
it will apparently start but it dies when being throttled
His advice; replace the entire throttle body and ecu.

here i drew the line since it is a 600 eu part and asked him if we could service it instead.
on which he refused so i demanded the scooter back.

my guess is that when removing the throttle body to replace the head and cilinder the tps sensor needs a recalibration and a overall clean wouldn't hurt either.
i have read upon the service manual and kymco states that if i short the pink wire to the negative battery lead it will reset the ecu?
so that it can recalibrate itself? or do i need a diagnostic tool for this?

right now the scooter is running very rich maybe because the ecu is still trying to make an engine run that has oil in the mixture and reducing air?
valve clearance and timing is set to correct value's

any advice is appreciated since i have no experience with injection scooters.

This is what i wanted to try tomorrow when the scooter is delivered back, after cleaning the throttle body.
appreciate the response, i just hope that the bike can be reset without a diagnostic tool because i have ran out of ideas currently.
i have red that ( since it idles ) i had to let it warm up idling , in combination with this it might work.

Got the Scooter back a few hours ago,

Turns out the mechanic messed up with a new injector.
he basically installed an injector for a different scooter or model and it would spray too much gasoline in.
he then proceeded to adjust the throttle body air screw.

i replaced the injector with a new one i had laying around for maintenance and will readjust the air and idle screw.

would the general rule for carbs ( 2-2.5 turns out ) work here aswell?

Update ,

I removed the throttle body  gave it a good clean.
Setting for air mixture general rule for carb all the way in 2(1/2) out.
Did a reset using pink wire and let it idle till warmed up.

Scooter drives like new.

Overall problems it had;

-Cilinder and cilinder head were clogged and burned alot of oil ( high mileage?)
-Injector wrong specs ( ordered on license plate )
- throttle body and ecu at wrong settings

Replacing these parts and fine tuning is what fixed my issues.
Next time i will double check the numbers on the parts and not trust it blindly.

Thanks for the help and information!.
